Frequently Asked Questions

Are Lagooner Captains Catch & Release?
The growing attitude of Catch & Release is one of the most important & popular practices on the water today. Lagooner captains practice this more often than not but we occassionally keep fish (within the legal limit) for the table. We are not a commercial holder of fishing license and do not believe that guiding and commercial fishing are a good mix.

Do Lagooner Captains use artificial Lures?
Yes, we provide or you can purchase any assortment of lures that you are interested in using. We endorse weedless spoons as truly being one of the best redfish lures [red-rippers] along with an assortment of jerk baits and top water lures. You will find that our Lagooner guides also use a livebait extensively.

Do Lagooners fly fish?
Captain Richard Bradley is Lagooner.com's premier fly fishing guide. He has over 30 years fishing experience around Merritt Island, Mosquito Lagoon and Cocoa Beach. Captain Richard has over 15 years experience with a fly rod and can assist you in casting, fly selection and of course... putting you in front of fish. Prior to your fishing trip, Captain Richard will familiarize you with what equipment to bring, what will be provided and the types of flies you might want to tie or have made prior to getting on the water. Remember fishing is a "weather permitting" sport and if there is too much wind, a fly-fishing trip may be cancelled or turned into a conventional tackle trip.

Are Food and Water Provided?
Unless requested differently, all charters will be provided with bottled water. Beer and alcohol are permitted on the vessel, however if someone becomes intoxicated the Captain will terminate the charter immediatly without refund for safety reasons.

Where Do We Meet Our Guide?
Your Guide can be contacted either at the lagooner offices at (321) 868-4953 or on cell (321) 543-3806. Guides will inform you prior to your charter where and when to meet you according to your charter request. Click here to get directions to some of the most popular meeting points.

Does Lagooner.com Guarantee Fish?
Unfortunately nobody can guarantee that fish will cooperate all the time. Weather, conditions and fish moods can shutdown any guides from time-to-time. However.... Lagooner promises you a great time on the water and a better opportunity with our experts to fulfill your fishing dream of catching a world class fish or delicious table-fare.

What kind of Boats will we be using?
Lagooner.com has various fishing vessels in our arsenal. For flats fishing in the Lagoon system we have an Action Craft 1820 with built-in coolers live-bait wells and release wells. For inshore/offshore Action Craft's new line of boats the Coastal Bay 2310 model. This boat is equipped with two oversized bait wells a and all the room and comfort you'll need for a succcessful day of fishing.
