Captain Gina Wading for Tailing Redfish in the Banana River Lagoon
Minutes from Orlando, Florida

Come Back to Orlando Florida... The World's Redfish Capital

Hello,
It's Captain Gina reminding you about your next fishing trip with Captain Richard and Lagooner Fishing Guides. Speaking of fishing trips...Captain Richard recently took me on one of the my most exciting saltwater adventures yet.  The Captain rarely has a free day so after dropping the kids off at school we quickly launched the boat and zoomed off to a remote, secluded location near our Cocoa Beach home. I didn't know what The Captain had in mind but I knew it would be something special because he was expecially excited.

"I've been working a school of redfish near a small sandbar for the last few days and we've been picking off a few everyday. They're big breeders and too large to legally keep, but they're fun to catch, take a photograph and release," explained Captain Richard.  "The only thing is that we'll have to wade to them, the bottom's hard sand and we'll approach them while wading knee deep on top of the bar."

Trusting my guide's judgement we quickly beached the boat and slipped over the side into the briney water. He'd already spied fish beforehand and steathfully lead me within casting distance of two 20 pound redfish sloshing around in the shallow water forraging on crabs and shrimp. "Cast over the fish and bring the artificial shrimp infront of them while they are feeding. When they eat it... Set The Hook!."  It sounded so easy, but I was nervous and missed my first couple of cast by several feet. My fishing guide was patient (so were the redfish), when I finally presented the lure correctly, I HOOKED UP! The eight pound test line sizzled off the reel quickly but after several long powerful runs, the redfish reluctantly moved my direction.

The fish in the photograph above was quickly released before we stalked another and then another. The wind finally picked up in the late morning making it difficult to see the redfish, Captain Richard quickly changed plans and my guide took me out for lunch at my favorite suschi bar and on to home where we washed the boat and prepared everything for The Captain's next fishing adventure.

During the Fall and Winter you'll find the Captain roving over our area lagoons between the World Famous Mosquito Lagoon and Sebastian Inlet including the Indian River Lagoon. He'll be helping his anglers stalk elusive snook, fiesty tarpon, gator sized spotted seatrout and tailing redfish in our clear tea colored lagoons. For a bonus he often takes people in our Action Craft Coastal Bay boat near the beaches for the fall mullet run, igniting the fishing for tripletail, sharks, kingfish and many other rod bending gamefish.

You've been with Captain Richard before and it's time to revisit our great fishing near the Kennedy Space Center and Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge spending time on the water while you're visiting our area this fall. The weather's almost always great and the water's perfect during September/October or as November grows closer the water will cool to the perfect temperatures to enjoy a day of fishing in Florida.

We both look forward to hearing from you again this year and catching up while reeling in a few fish during your stay.  Please call me soon, I'll be looking forward to setting up this year's angling adventure.

Fishing Vacation Updates and Information East Central Florida

Hello,
It's time to touch bases with our anglers and send a report about what's been going on with East Central Florida's Cocoa Beach area fishing near Orlando and it's beloved theme parks. We'll be getting alot of you as return anglers this winter and we are looking forward to a great time of catching gator sized sea trout and redfish.  Last year we added a 23 foot Action Craft tower boat to our arsenal of fishing machines and it's paying off. We're uncovering new fishing holes from Mosquito Lagoon to Sebastian Inlet.

We've rebuilt our Fishing Forum and are hoping for many of you to share your fishing photos, stories and angler's reports (no bragging or lying, we'll be watching HA!).

As always I look forward to hearing from many of you soon, if you need to contact Captain Gina and settup a charter please call her at (321) 868-4953 or just fill out the form on the left.

God Bless,

Captain Richard Bradley

Tailing Redfish

Tailing redfish are what many anglers dream about after watching their favorite fishing shows and watching fishing celebrities sightfish for redfish, permit, bonefish and other shallow water species. The redfish above was caught on film on the day during an outing with Captain Richard. Call me, Captain Gina and see if you can't catch a glimpse of a redfish tailing when you visit our area.

Where Is East Central Florida?

East Central Florida is located between Daytona Beach and Fort Pierce and is directly east of Orlando and it's theme parks Disney, Universal Studios and Sea World. Cocoa Beach is dead center on Central Florida's eastern shoreline and it's also the epicenter of fishing on it's coastline. Located thirty minutes due east of the Orlando International Airport on exit 52 is the small Kelly Park where you will launch with your guide and visit such famous locations like Mosquito Lagoon, the Indian River Lagoon and Banana River Lagoon and further south to Sebastian Inlet. The adventureous may want to visit the deep blue sea and experience offshore fishing and deep sea fishing out of Port Canaveral (four minutes east of Kelly Park). Take a look at our Central Florida Fishing Destinations page for more information.
