Come Back to Orlando Florida... The World's Redfish
Capital
Hello,
It's Captain Gina reminding you about your next fishing trip with Captain
Richard and Lagooner Fishing Guides. Speaking
of fishing trips...Captain Richard recently took me on one of the my most
exciting saltwater adventures yet. The Captain rarely has a free day
so after dropping the kids off at school we quickly launched the boat and
zoomed off to a remote, secluded location near our Cocoa Beach home. I didn't
know what The Captain had in mind but I knew it would be something special
because he was expecially excited.
"I've been working a school of redfish near a small sandbar for the
last few days and we've been picking off a few everyday. They're big breeders
and too large to legally keep, but they're fun to catch, take a photograph
and release," explained Captain Richard. "The only thing
is that we'll have to wade to them, the bottom's hard sand and we'll approach
them while wading knee deep on top of the bar."
Trusting my guide's judgement we quickly beached the boat and slipped over
the side into the briney water. He'd already spied fish beforehand and steathfully
lead me within casting distance of two 20 pound redfish sloshing around
in the shallow water forraging on crabs and shrimp. "Cast over the
fish and bring the artificial shrimp infront of them while they are feeding.
When they eat it... Set The Hook!." It sounded so easy, but I
was nervous and missed my first couple of cast by several feet. My fishing
guide was patient (so were the redfish), when I finally presented the lure
correctly, I HOOKED UP! The eight pound test line sizzled off the reel quickly
but after several long powerful runs, the redfish reluctantly moved my direction.
The fish in the photograph above was quickly released before we stalked
another and then another. The wind finally picked up in the late morning
making it difficult to see the redfish, Captain Richard quickly changed
plans and my guide took me out for lunch at my favorite suschi bar and on
to home where we washed the boat and prepared everything for The Captain's
next fishing adventure.
During the Fall and Winter you'll find the Captain roving over our area
lagoons between the World Famous Mosquito Lagoon and Sebastian
Inlet including the Indian River Lagoon. He'll
be helping his anglers stalk elusive snook, fiesty tarpon, gator sized spotted
seatrout and tailing redfish in our clear tea colored lagoons. For a bonus
he often takes people in our Action Craft Coastal Bay boat
near the beaches for the fall mullet run, igniting the fishing for tripletail,
sharks, kingfish and many other rod bending gamefish.
You've been with Captain Richard before and it's time
to revisit our great fishing near the Kennedy Space Center
and Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge spending time on the
water while you're visiting our area this fall. The weather's almost always
great and the water's perfect during September/October or as November grows
closer the water will cool to the perfect temperatures to enjoy a day of
fishing in Florida.
We both look forward to hearing from you again this year and catching up
while reeling in a few fish during your stay. Please call me soon,
I'll be looking forward to setting up this year's angling adventure.
