Additional Information On Arranging A Fishing Charter

When Is The Best Time To Go Fishing?

Booking A Fishing Charter with a Central Florida Fishing Guide.

The simple answer to this question is an emphatic NOW!  Each season brings it's own unique fishing excitement and challenges for anglers and our job is to match the trips to customer. We fish the Inshore Lagoons all year around but often change locations as each season ebbs and flows from the Indian and Banana River Lagoons to the Mosquito Lagoon and Sebastian Inlet. During the summer months we concentrate on the offshore and nearshore fishing off Port Canaveral and Cocoa Beach as the water temperatures in the lagoon rise and the Atlantic Ocean is seasonally calm. Our summertime customers seem to like this and it's worked for years. However most of our long time anglers simply want to have a good day of fishing and simply ask us to take them where the fish are biting during that time.

We hope this page helps our customers and potential customers make their decision based on their needs and expectations. We are a no gimmick, hard working guide service that looks out of the demands and expectations of our customers. Lagooner Fishing Guides are fully licensed by the USCG, FWC and have a Business Occupational License and are incorporated with the State of Florida. We are not a part time business looking to make a few extra dollars and pride ourselves with being on the water more than almost any charter service in Florida. While we enjoy being on the water as much as anyone, we invest our hard earned time and money to have the best equipment and provide the safest, successful fishing trips. In all of our years of providing the highest quality fishing trips, we've never resorted to hype or gimmicks as many competitors have. The "NO FISH NO PAY GUARANTEE" is a plague to the honest fishing guide and an obvious gimmick used by wannabe be fishing guides to attract business. Nobody can guarantee fish and there's always a caveat that smells fishy. If a guide can afford to give up a day of fishing on the water because the fish aren't biting... He's independently wealthy or lives with his parents. There are several of the latter... check their credentials.

What Kind of Fishing Trips Do We Provide?

Inshore Fishing Trip

Inshore - Inshore Fishing in the shallow water lagoons of the Indian River Lagoon, Banana River Lagoon and the Mosquito Lagoon as well as Sebastian Inlet in South Brevard County east of Orlando is an awesome trip for small groups of one to three anglers and their guide. You'll have the opportunity to catch redfish, sea trout, snook, jacks and tarpon when the conditions and season are right. Our inshore fishing is all year- around and it's world class whether you're a novice or and expert angler. Central Florida's east coast inshore fishing is superb.

Offshore Fishing

Offshore - Calmer summer days are very productive offshore of Port Canaveral and that's when you'll find us out with our anglers looking for cobia, king mackerel, dolphin or maybe even a nice wahoo. We typically keep up year around with the offshore fishing, but due to winter winds and strong weather fronts inshore is a better option for anglers during that time of the year. If you're looking for dolphin it's April - May and other offshore fishing is almost year around. Canaveral is known for it's live baiting for king mackerel, bottom fishing and great deep sea fishing.

Nearshore Fishing

Nearshore - Is a great option for anglers off the beaches and out of Port Canaveral for tarpon, tripletail, cobia and large spawning snook. Staying close to the beach and within sight of land is a great place to find many favorite gamefish species that are both inshore and offshore on east central Florida. During many months you may even find schools of redfish and jack crevelle making a splash on the beach. Each fish species has it's own challenges and time periods but nearshore is a great alternative for anglers looking for a fun fishing trip when the winds are calm and the fish are biting off Florida's Space Coast.

How Many Hours will we Stay on the Water?

One of my anglers had such a great time on the water during his "Full Day" fishing charter when we rolled up to the dock at the end of the day he simply said." Hey! Wait a minute! A full day is 24 hours right? Let's continue this trip on until tomorrow morning!"  Of course he was joking, but it did make me think about people's perception of how long a fishing trip should be. Below is a brief explanation of our typical fishing charter time periods.

Full Day - 8 hours (Perfect for the hardcore anglers but can be challenging for family and novice anglers)

Half Day - 4 hours (An awesome way to spend the morning or late afternoon for all anglers)

3/4 Day - 6 hours (Perfect for anglers who want their fishing day just right...)

What Kind of Boats Do We Use?

Action Craft 1820 - We have two distinctly different boats at Lagooner Fishing Guides. For inshore fishing in shallow water we have a high performance fishing vessel that's unique and made for traversing the shallow waters at both high speeds and poling along at slow speeds. It's simply called a "Flats Boat" and is manufactured by one of the best boat manufacturers in the world Action Craft. Built in coolers, live bait & release wells, rod storage and a powerful motor gets you to the fishing fast and safely.

Coastal Bay 2310 - The second boat is a 24 foot center console tower boat with both upper and lower stations allowing both angler and guide a great view of the fishing arena when looking for fish both near shore and offshore. Equipped with ample live bait wells for even the most challenging fishing days, rod lockers, fish box, coolers and all the electronic equipment need to find the fish. Both vessels are manufactured by Action Craft.
