Captain Gina Bradley

Booking You With The Best Fishing Trips on Florida's East Coast

Friday October 20, 2017

Captain Gina is qualified in every aspect to take people on fishing charters, but this mother of two and wife of renowned charter Captain Richard Bradley, chooses to take friends and family on her fishing outings only.

"Cindi Lauper summed it up in a song... Girls just want to have fun and that's me when I'm out fishing with friends."
-Captain Gina

Gina is a Coast Guard Merchant Marine Captain and lives in Cocoa Beach on Florida's Space Coast. Living near Daytona Beach and Orlando, Gina loves to fish, run and spend time with her family in the outdoors. Her favorite fish to catch is tarpon in the hot summer sun off Cape Canaveral and Brevard County, but inshore fishing in a canoe for tailing redfish in the Banana River's NMZ is a close second.

When Gina's not fishing, she's the booking agent for Lagooner Fishing Guides and helps several of her charter fishing captain friends with referrals. "The best part of helping my fishing charter buddies is spending an occassional day on the boat with them." Explains Gina. "Taking a day of fishing with friends! There's nothing like it and I can't get enough of it!"

Captain Gina with Tarpon

More and more women are getting into fishing and it's not surprising to see a few that like to actually take the initiative and go out on their own or take friends with them. Gina is one of those unique anglers that loves the water and the outdoors and finds fun introducing her friends to a great day in the Florida sunshine.

Central Florida has so many unique opportunities for a woman that likes to fish and have fun. Mosquito Lagoon, Sebastian Inlet, the Indian River Lagoon and Banana River are just a few of the inshore places for a girl to get lost in a remote inshore waterway. Of course taking a day of nearshore and offshore fishing in the Atlantic Ocean is great too. Whether it's offshore fishing for cobia and king mackerel, inshore fishing for redfish and sea trout or nearshore for monster snook and tarpon you'll find Captain Gina ready and willing to take on the great outdoors and pull in another big one.

Taking a day with a friend on Florida's east coast fishing is one of the best things to do while visiting Florida's Space Coast near Orlando. Wading and swimming with one of my girlfriends on a sandbar island or racing down the waterway at fifty miles per hour with the wind blowing in my hair while holding on tight. It's always a good time when the sun's shining and the fish are biting.

Even when they don't bite it's fun to watch the wildlife and relax with your toes in the sand or soaking up sun on the boat deck. Speaking of of wildlife or should I say "night life", Cocoa Beach offers some great night time fun for anglers after the sun goes down too. You'll find my friends and I down on the docks behind Grills Restaurant & Bar on the waterfront or dancing on the deck to live music at their tiki bar. It's just another way for girls to have fun and blow off steam after a hard day's work or long day on the water.

If you visit Florida, please look me up and I'll set you up with a great fishing trip on my local waterways on Florida's Central East Coastline and a fantastic day with one of my Captains.

Fishing Reports

October - 2017 Fishing Report

The summer is over and the autumn winds are starting to prevail as we head toward the holidays and winter. With water temperatures on the fall and water levels above average you can find good numbers of fish very close to the shoreline and against the mangroves. Mullet are in their peak run and will start to subside as we enter November, but bait, comfort and the end of the redfish spawn should keep anglers busy during the month of October. Lie mullet will trump any given bait during the fall on most days and if you're lucky enough to run into a school of big breeding redfish, it typically doesn't matter what you throw at them, just be ready for these fish that often exceed forty pounds.

Wrapping up the October report, we have been catching snook along the deeper shorelines with the seasonally high water, breeding redfish are coming to an end, but you have a chance to catch them and the fall mullet fun will keep the gamefish interesting into November.

Fishing Forecast

October - 2017 Fishing Forecast

The frost is on the pumpkin, but not in Central Florida's Banana River Lagoon during October. The Halloween month can be the first we really start feeling cooler temperatures and the fish seem to get frisky and are hungry during this fall month. Although we concentrate further south for snook during October, it's starting to really get good in the Banana River as bait from the fall mullet run are around and there's plenty of action for almost every species from snook to sea trout. Sea trout in the evenings can be fantastic or early in the morning when the sun is not fully out. Redfish and tarpon will be around the whole day for anglers to enjoy. Look for the Banana to get better and better during the coming weeks and months as winter makes itself known.

TripAdvisor Review

Review / Trip Advisor

Inshore and Offshore Charter Fishing near Orlando and Cocoa Beach, Florida. Catch redfish, sea trout, tarpon, snook and many other saltwater gamefish aboard the world famous Lagooner flats fishing boat with renowned Captain Richard Bradley.

Amazing People and Amazing Day on the Water - Our day spent with Captain Richard on the Atlantic was one of the most memorable of our lives! This guy is entertaining and an expert fisherman! Captain Gina was so accommodating prior to our reservation, giving us local recommendations, and after our trip, ensuring that we had the best time and following up with us to see if we would visit agin!
We spent the first hour or so of our trip goofing around, storytelling and listening to "old man rock music" as Captain Richard looked for bait. Once he coasted his net and caught bait that was the size of the fish that we catch from the shore, we knew that we were in for a treat!
The weather was beautiful, water was calm and, in between joke telling and getting to know each other, we ended up catching 3 king mackerels (one was 45 lbs!), 2 amber jacks and 2 barracudas, all of which were very sizable! Captain Richard provided great guidance as we fought the fish (and won!), was very patient snd honest.
Highly highly recommend booking a fishing charter with Lagooner Fishing Guides! Not only will you return to land telling true fish stories of your time on the water (as evidenced in photos), you will also return with new friends!!
