Nothing better than taking a warm summer day and going out fishing off Port Canaveral when the fish are biting. Captain Gina takes a day off her usual routine of booking fishing trips for Captain Richard Bradley of Lagooner Fishing Charters and running kids back and forth to school and narrates a quick fishing stop on one of the nearshore wrecks off the central east coast of Florida near Cocoa Beach.
I love taking a day with my husband and going fishing offshore when the weather's nice. It's nice to have him cater to me by catching bait in the castnet and instructing me on where and how to fish. You can enjoy the same great fishing trips I do when you you take a fishing charter with Lagooner Fishing Guides and Captain Richard too.

May - 2018 Fishing Report
May - 2018 Fishing Forecast
May is one of the last month's of good fishing in the Banana River Lagoon until the summer months are over and the temperatures start to fall again in late September and October. May is awesome backwater snook time for Banana River anglers. Look for the early morning bite to produce great numbers of these hard hitting game fish. Fly fisherman only need to bring white mangrove flies in an assortment of sizes, but most snook will be in the single digit size so don't go past a 10 weight. Redfish will be plentiful and healthy sized in many areas of the Banana River and the sea trout will be staging around bait along sandbars and islands. Look for sea trout to slow down late in the month and as the summer temps rise the sea trout fishing will all but disappear excepting the smaller ones in the deeper water. Sebastian and the Mosquito Lagoon will be better sea trout areas in late May and into the summer.

Amazing People and Amazing Day on the Water - Our day spent with Captain Richard on the Atlantic was one of the most memorable of our lives! This guy is entertaining and an expert fisherman! Captain Gina was so accommodating prior to our reservation, giving us local recommendations, and after our trip, ensuring that we had the best time and following up with us to see if we would visit agin!
We spent the first hour or so of our trip goofing around, storytelling and listening to "old man rock music" as Captain Richard looked for bait. Once he coasted his net and caught bait that was the size of the fish that we catch from the shore, we knew that we were in for a treat!
The weather was beautiful, water was calm and, in between joke telling and getting to know each other, we ended up catching 3 king mackerels (one was 45 lbs!), 2 amber jacks and 2 barracudas, all of which were very sizable! Captain Richard provided great guidance as we fought the fish (and won!), was very patient snd honest.
Highly highly recommend booking a fishing charter with Lagooner Fishing Guides! Not only will you return to land telling true fish stories of your time on the water (as evidenced in photos), you will also return with new friends!!
