Camping and Fishing
Port Everglades

Brrrrrrr..... Coldest temperatures in the Everglades in almost 20 years as the mercury fell below the freezing point. Captain Richard took his family south for a weekend of fishing and camping fun at Port Everglades. Thank goodness for sleeping bags, air matresses and coleman heaters because it was cold. Everglade fish shivered along with us and we only had one day of fishing which turned up nothing special and made for a cold boat ride.

Captain Richard ran aground at low tide and was rescued by a wonderful couple that took us in and provided hot chocolate, coffee and marvelous grilled cheese sandwiches. Recipe (three slices of cheese).

While wanting to remain anonymous we want to show our appreciation for a charming couple and their tender hearts for our children and compassion for a stranded family. Thanks again...

While we never saw a Florida Panther, Savannah took the time to show us their habitat and pose for a picture.
