Cast Nets by Tim Wade

A good castnet is not an option for livebait fishermen and Tim Wade possibly has the best cast nets in Florida at great prices.

"Tim has been making castnets for many years and has perfected his formulas for making a great casting net. If you ask any commercial fisherman in Florida what net he uses, most likely it's made by Tim Wade himself. I use several different castnets from Tim including ten foot pogie nets, ten and eight foot finger mullet nets (eight footers for wading)."

Professional Commerical Grade Cast Nets Made in Florida.

I use a cast net almost every day I guide and I've found that the you pay for what you get when it comes to a quality net for catching various types of bait.

Cheap castnets don't weigh enough and let the bait swim out from under the net before it sinks to the bottom. I often throw in forty five feet of water for bait with a twelve foot and almost twenty pound castnet that Tim's made special for catching pogies in Port Canaveral and I rarely go away without getting bait.

For finger mullet I use a ten foot net and an eight foot net for wading.

Tim's also made me a net for pilchards and smaller baits to they won't get hung in the net and shake out easy.

Throwing a cast net takes practice and time to learn. Depending on your stature and strength, you may vary your technique from other net throwers. I have three basic techniques that I've been taught and developed that help me in different situations. I hope one day to post a movie on the website to show these proven methods.
